The culture of the small mountain hamlet of Jasper is the result of First Nations vision, the dreams of European explorers and of a railroad that created a nation. Jasper now celebrates its life as a mountain resort by hosting a variety of local events and seasonal festivals such as the Ukrainian New Year festival of Malanka.
For years, painters, photographers, and musicians have been drawn to the Canadian Rocky Mountains by the spirit of the wilderness, people, and animals that call Banff National Park home. The area’s rich history and mountain culture are celebrated annually during the Banff Summer Arts Festival, an alpine banquet of culture, performing, visual, and literary arts. Lake Louise proudly hosts men’s and women’s World Cup ski racing every November to coincide with WinterStart which features concerts, ice carving demonstrations and of course, a Santa Claus Parade.
