Rocky Mountains Adventurer

Authentically local adventures await you in Jasper and Banff National Parks.

ROCKY MOUNTAINS ADVENTURER ROUTE

The best way to experience Canada’s Western Mountain Region is a road trip through the stunning mountain vistas. Your drive through the Canadian Rockies will include sparkling emerald lakes, charming towns, and lots of wildlife viewing. Included are some suggestions that you can use to help outline your rocky mountain road trip.

Day one Edmonton to Jasper

Three and a half hours due west of Edmonton is Jasper National Park and The Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge. Along the way keep you eyes peeled for wildlife and the Rocky Mountains emerging in the distance. After checking into The Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge rent a bike to explore the 700-acres of property before enjoying dinner on Cavell’s terrace.

Day two The Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge

After a hearty breakfast set out for a must do adventure in Jasper, the Edith Cavell hike. Head out on your own or with a guide as you experience three kinds of glacier formations. From icebergs, to ice avalanches, ice caves, waterfalls and finally the emerald green of the Lake of Forgiveness. For great wildlife viewing opportunities take a white water raft or guided fishing trip on the Athabasca River. In the evening, after dinner, rent a canoe and glide across Lac Beauvert looking back at The Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge.

Day three Jasper to The Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise

Get an early start as you embark on one of the worlds most spectacular drives three and a half hours down the Icefields Parkway. Along the way keep your eyes peeled for wildlife. Be sure to allow time to stop at the incredible Columbia Icefields, here you can board a giant Ice Explorer and venture onto the surface of the Athabasca Glacier, an experience not to be missed! Arrive at The Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise and settle into your room overlooking the breathtaking view of Lake Louise. Have a memorable fondue dinner in the Walliser Stube or a four diamond experience in the Fairview Dining Room.

Day three The Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise

Start the morning with a health conscious breakfast in Poppy Brasserie. After breakfast meet you personal Mountain Heritage Guide for your half day, full day hike or mountain bike trip. Our guides are some of the most knowledgeable, interesting and fun people to go hiking with. Hear historical facts about the area, stories about local wildlife and tips on hiking techniques. During your hike you will stop at the Lake Agnes Tea House or Plain of Six Glaciers Tea House. Here you can enjoy freshly made baked goods, sandwiches and soups. Once back at the hotel, if you are still up for more fun, book a North Canoe Guided Adventure on Lake Louise. Afterwards enjoy the evening relaxing in your room and a casual dinner in the Glacier Saloon

Day four Lake Louise to The Fairmont Banff Springs

Before checking out be sure to get your photo in front of world famous Lake Louise.

Drive forty-five minutes east to The Fairmont Banff Springs. Take the 1A highway route, great to wildlife spotting and short hikes along the way. After checking into The Fairmont Banff Springs visit the concierge to plan your activities for the next day from fly fishing, to heli-hiking, rock climbing, downhill biking, to ATV tours and white water rafting. In the afternoon, head up the Sulphur Mountain Gondola for the spectacular views and photo opportunities. Afterwards instead of taking the gondola, hike down the trail to the Banff Hot Springs for a rewarding soak. Enjoy a hearty dinner in The Waldhaus or Bow Valley Grill featuring locally inspired cuisine like elk, bison and Alberta beef.

Day five The Fairmont Banff Springs

Before setting out on your first activity for the day, grab lunch to-go from the Castle Pantry. Meet your fishing guide for the day, head down to the Bow Falls for a float down the Bow River or board your transfer to white water rafting or an ATV tour. If hiking is more your thing ask the concierge for recommendations, from Sunshine Meadows to Johnston Canyon, nearby trails offer memorable full and half day hike options. After a day of exploration in Banff National Park visit the Willow Stream spa and soak in the mineral pool, perfect for soothing tired muscles. For dinner try fresh sushi in Samurai or a one of kind dining experience in the Banffshire Club.

Day six Banff to Calgary

On your final day reward yourself with a delectable breakfast buffet in the Bow Valley Grill, featuring traditional favourites and new world flavours. Check out of the hotel and depart one a half hours to Calgary International Airport for the conclusion of your Rocky Mountain Adventure.
