FAMILY - GO WEST GETAWAY ROUTEThe best way to experience Canada’s Western Mountain Region is a road trip through the stunning mountain vistas. Your drive through the Canadian Rockies will include sparkling emerald lakes, charming towns, and lots of wildlife viewing. Included are some suggestions that you can use to help outline your rocky mountain road trip.
Day one Edmonton or Calgary to JasperThree and a half hours due west of Edmonton and four and half hours northwest of Calgary is Jasper National Park and The Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge. Along the way keep your eyes peeled for wildlife and the Rocky Mountains emerging in the distance. After checking into The Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge the day is yours to explore the 700-acres of property and endless activities.
Day two The Fairmont Jasper Park LodgeAfter a hearty breakfast at the Lodge rent a transparent canoe for a ride on Lac Beauvert, saddle up for a horseback trail ride, or sign the kids up for Kids Camp while mom and dad play a round on Canada’s #1 resort golf course or rejuvenate in the new Fairmont Spa, opening in September 2010. Kids under eighteen can play golf for free daily after 1:00pm when accompanying an adult. After a day full of fun enjoy dinner at one of the hotels’ family friendly restaurants and reminisce about your first day in the Rockies. At The Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge, kids under five eat free and kids under twelve eat for 50% off.
Day three Jasper to Whistler via KamloopsWake up early for a morning walk or bike ride around the lake before checking out and continuing your family adventure. Grab lunch to-go from the Lodge and embark on your drive just over five hours to Kamloops for a stop over on your way to Whistler.
Day four Kamloops to WhistlerStart the day early and continue on a four hour drive to The Fairmont Chateau Whistler. After settling into the hotel, make your way to the outdoor pool for some fun or sign the kids up for RU Ready sports program while mom and dad play a round at the challenging Chateau Whistler golf course. Kids aged ten to eighteen can play golf for free when accompanying an adult. In the evening, enjoy dinner in the family friendly setting of Wildflower restaurant where kids under twelve eat free from 5:00pm -7:00pm
Day five The Fairmont Chateau WhistlerWake up early and have a hearty breakfast in Wildflower restaurant where kids under twelve eat free from 7:00am – 11:00am or grab something quick in Portobello Deli. Take the family on an adventure on Whistler Blackcomb’s PEAK 2 PEAK Gondola, the world’s longest free standing gondola, located just outside the hotel doors. Afterwards, take our trail bikes for a ride (free for Fairmont Presidents Club members) and venture the trails around Whistler village. After dinner take a dip in the outdoor pool or sign out family games from the health club, from Bocce, Frisbee to Monopoly, Scrabble and more.
