Canadian Ski Museum WestThe Canadian Ski Museum West is a free exhibit that explores Banff’s ski heritage and Canada’s great skiers. Memorabilia from Olympic skiers who have trained on local slopes is displayed as well as displays of Swiss mountain guides, the evolution of equipment, and historic backcountry ski lodges.
Whyte Museum of the Canadian RockiesFounded in 1968, the Whyte Museum of the Canadian Rockies celebrates and promotes Banff's important artistic history by offering exhibits exploring the history and culture of this rugged region. The facility is comprised of four galleries, a collection of heritage homes, a library and archives. Guided tours are available.
Buffalo Nations Luxton MuseumDedicated to the traditions and values of the First Nations people of North America and their trading partners, the Buffalo Nations Luxton Museum depicts how the people of this land lived and adapted to their surroundings and each other. Displays range from costumes and quillwork to hunting equipment.
Walter Phillips GalleryDedicated to contemporary art, the Walter Phillips Gallery at The Banff Centre represents national and international artists. Offering lectures and demonstrations that relate to exhibitions, this intimate space serves as Banff's contemporary arts hub.
Banff Park Museum National Historic SiteWestern Canada's oldest natural history museum is not your typical museum. Their collection of specimens, established in 1895, reflects the approach taken by naturalists of an earlier era. This elegantly styled Banff landmark has been an enchanting way to discover Banff’s mammals, birds and insects since 1903.
Heritage HallLocated above the grand main lobby in the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel, Heritage Hall features exhibits that capture the role the hotel has played in local history while profiling the nature and culture of the mountain National Park.
